Mobile Rocket set for global lift off

A North East tech firm is gearing up for take-off as it targets international expansion to accelerate growth and boost revenues.

Mobile Rocket, based in Newton Aycliffe, in County Durham, is investing a five-figure sum to establish a presence in the United States and the Netherlands, with the latter identified as a key growth market.

The move forms part of an ambitious strategy that could see the company more than double its turnover.

Founded in 2013, the multi-million-pound business develops digital recruitment platforms used by major organisations including Amazon, Waitrose and the NHS.

It has grown into one of the UK’s largest temporary staffing software providers, with more than one million candidates using its systems.

Its core platform, Rocket Recruitment, supports agencies operating in high-demand sectors such as education, logistics, manufacturing and healthcare.

The technology streamlines processes including onboarding, compliance, shift management and timesheets within a single system.

Founder Adam Lee said: “Mobile Rocket’s core business model is that we create recruitment platforms “all in one solution for recruitment agencies” – that help companies onboard and manage temporary workers in one place.

“The Netherlands has a high temporary workforce, so that makes the country a natural fit for the business, and the USA is a huge market without the typical barriers like language.

“We believe that with the right strategy, and by targeting the right markets, Mobile Rocket can become a major international force.

“Additionally, recruitment is a global market, and app-based hiring is quickly becoming the norm.”

The company’s growth accelerated during the Covid pandemic, when demand for temporary workers surged, helping to scale its operations and client base.

Alongside its international push, Mobile Rocket is also expanding its North East team, with new roles in sales and inbound marketing planned.

While artificial intelligence is increasingly embedded in its platform, the business continues to focus on people-led solutions as it builds momentum in the UK and beyond.

Adam added: “Our financial year ends in April, and we are expecting to see a growth of around 25 per cent.

“Given the current job market – particularly the pressure caused by rising employment costs – that speaks volumes about the trust clients have in us to create platforms that deliver the right staff quickly and efficiently.

“Ultimately, our business is about helping place candidates quicker.

“These are jobs that help families buy homes, support children and build their futures.

“If we can build the technology that makes that happen faster and more fairly, the opportunity for further growth is huge.”
