North East tech conference set to return

A North East technology conference is set to return later this year, bringing together industry experts to explore the future of cloud computing.

The AWS North Community Conference, powered by digital product engineering firm Leighton, will take place at The Baltic in Gateshead, on Thursday, October 15. 

The one-day event aims to support the region’s growing tech sector by connecting professionals, innovators and global thought leaders within the AWS ecosystem.

Launched last year, the conference attracted more than 150 attendees, including 24 speakers and six AWS Heroes, with participants travelling from across the world to engage with the North East’s tech community.

Organisers say this year’s event will once again provide a platform for developers, engineers, SMEs, academics and students to collaborate, share insights and explore how AWS technologies are shaping software development and scaling solutions.

Led by Leighton’s senior team, including chief technology officer Steve Morland, the conference is designed to strengthen the region’s tech network and offer opportunities for learning and innovation closer to home.

Steve said: “It’s great to be able to announce the return of AWS North Community Conference. 

“Last year was a hugely successful event and the feedback we received was absolutely fantastic with a 100 per cent satisfaction rate and over 92 per cent of respondents saying they plan to return this year.

“We’ve taken on board some of the insight we gathered from our delegates to inform what this year’s event looks like and ensure we provide more of what people want to see. 

“We’re really looking forward to sharing more information about what people can expect in the coming months.

“The next milestone will be when our call for speakers opens at the end of this month. We had a huge volume of great submissions last time around, so we’re excited to see what people have up their sleeves this year.”
