R3 appoints new president
Restructuring and insolvency trade body R3 has appointed Sonia Jordan as its new president.
Sonia, a partner at Knights, brings more than 30 years’ experience advising on corporate restructuring and recovery.
She succeeds Tom Russell in the role.
As president, she will work with R3’s leadership team to shape and deliver the organisation’s strategy over the next year.
Her priorities include raising awareness of the profession’s role in the UK economy, strengthening political engagement and supporting the development of future talent.
Sonia said: “It is an honour to serve as president of R3 at a time when our profession’s expertise is needed more than ever.
“Businesses and individuals are facing unprecedented pressures due to ongoing geopolitical and economic uncertainty.
“My priority is to champion the vital work our members do to support business rescue, safeguard jobs, and help individuals navigate financial distress.
“I will be working with policymakers to ensure the UK’s insolvency and restructuring framework remains fit for purpose, encourages responsible entrepreneurship, and keeps pace with innovation and technology.
“I am also committed to building a diverse, engaged and future-ready profession attracting new talent into the profession and supporting members at every stage of their career.
“By working together, we can ensure our profession continues to deliver real value to the UK economy and society.”
Caroline Sumner, chief executive of R3, added: “Sonia’s detailed knowledge and expertise in restructuring, turnaround and insolvency, combined with her commitment to championing the profession’s value will be a real asset during her year as R3 president.
“She has a clear vision for strengthening engagement with policymakers and supporting members at every stage of their career while promoting restructuring, turnaround and insolvency as an attractive career option to new entrants.
“I would also like to thank Tom Russell for his leadership and contribution during his year as president and I am very much looking forward to working closely with Sonia.”
