Education recruiter grows with largest-ever takeover
An education recruitment firm has bolstered its ranks with a takeover.
Operam Education Group has bought Choice Teachers and its Bespoke Education brand.
It says the move for the London, Leigh and Hitchin-based recruitment agency marks its largest-ever acquisition, adding it will “deepen roots in the North West (and materially grow) its footprint in the south of England”.
It adds the deal – agreed for an undisclosed sum – will see Choice Teachers’ directors remain with the business alongside its 50-strong team.
Providing long-term and daily supply teachers and support staff to nursery, primary, secondary and further education settings, Choice Teachers also supports special educational and additional learning needs schools.
The takeover – which follows previous moves for operators including Provide Education, Teachers UK and Key Stage Teacher Supply – was backed by private markets investment firm Three Hills, capital investor BGF, Operam Education Group management and HSBC.
Eddie Austin, Operam Education Group chief executive, said: “The North West has always been a traditional heartland for the business.
“Choice Teachers has built a fantastic brand profile across its three regional offices; it will perfectly complement our portfolio of businesses.”
Pablo Velez, Three Hills partner, added: “By expanding the company’s capabilities and reach, the acquisition enhances Operam’s ability to support schools and improve student outcomes.
“We look forward to continuing our close partnership with the management team as they deliver the next phase of growth.”
