DP Medical secures B Corp status

A Surrey medical supplies company has joined a global movement recognising businesses committed to high social and environmental standards.

DP Medical, based in Chessington, has achieved B Corp Certification following an assessment process measuring performance across areas including environmental impact, governance, transparency and workplace practices.

The accreditation places the business among more than 10,000 certified B Corps worldwide and over 2600 in the UK, spanning sectors from retail and media to manufacturing and healthcare.

DP Medical supplies ENT, gynaecology and dentistry products across the UK and Ireland and secured certification after introducing a series of environmental and social initiatives in recent years.

These include achieving ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 accreditation, gaining Living Wage Foundation accreditation and implementing both a Social Value Plan and Carbon Reduction Plan.

The certification process was led internally by the company’s quality and environment manager, Javier Pazos Garcia, who coordinated improvements and impact measurement across the business.

Javier said: “I’m thrilled we have reached this milestone and excited to continue on this journey, setting higher standards and staying true to our values across every aspect of our business.

“The certification work brought teams together to meet rigorous standards, resulting in this achievement. 

“Our aim is now to ensure ongoing progress and meaningful impact in all areas of B Corp™, from environmental stewardship to fair work and stakeholder governance, doing our best for our people, our customers, our communities and the planet.”

Awarded by non-profit organisation B Lab, B Corp Certification recognises companies meeting standards for social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency.
