58-Home Fife scheme completed early

A new affordable housing development in Fife has been completed ahead of schedule.

Robertson Partnership Homes has completed the 58-home Viewfield Park development in Glenrothes for Fife Council as part of the local authority’s Affordable Housing Programme.

Built on a brownfield site that had remained derelict for more than a decade, the development includes cottage flats, townhouses and a range of two, three and five-bedroom homes, alongside wheelchair-accessible properties and amenity bungalows.

Construction began in 2024, with phased handovers starting in September 2025.

The final homes have now been completed ahead of the original autumn 2026 schedule.

Designed with energy efficiency in mind, the homes include modern heating systems, high-performance insulation and photovoltaic units, helping the development achieve EPC B ratings.

Gordon Milne, regional managing director of Robertson Construction Eastern, which carried out the operational delivery of the development, said: “Having successfully delivered four developments for Fife Council, we’ve seen how much of a success its Affordable Housing Programme has been across the region.

“We have no doubt that Viewfield Park will continue this momentum, delivering a new neighbourhood that supports the council’s response to the housing emergency while boosting the local economy during construction and beyond.

“We’re delighted to be continuing our relationship with Fife Council through further developments in Lochgelly and Dunfermline.”

The project also delivered wider community benefits throughout construction, including apprenticeship opportunities and employment support initiatives.

Robertson supported six apprentices during the build, delivering 500 apprenticeship weeks and employing 257 people across the project.

The contractor also worked closely with Glenrothes Strollers Football Club, donating sports equipment and carrying out improvement works for the community organisation free of charge.

Councillor Judy Hamilton, Fife Council’s housing spokesperson, added: “Completion of these new houses at Viewfield is an important milestone in our ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality, council housing across Fife.

“Developments like this not only provide much-needed housing for local families, but also help create strong, sustainable communities.

“We’re pleased to have worked with Robertson to bring these houses forward, and we look forward to seeing our tenants settle in and make their homes here.”
