Security products firm eyes growth after buy-out

A Worcestershire security products supplier is targeting further growth after completing a management buy-out backed by multi-million-pound funding.

Droitwich-based Haydon Marketing has secured investment from Frontier Development Capital, enabling managing director Peter Dickens to take full control of the business following the retirement of co-founder Mark Neale.

Founded in 1993, Haydon supplies wholesale distributors across the UK with a range of security products, including fire and intruder alarm accessories, CCTV, access control and networking systems.

The company has continued expanding its offering in recent years, most recently launching power supplies for fire alarm systems, which have already become a significant revenue stream.

Haydon now offers around 250 products under its own brand, alongside own-label and bespoke products for wholesalers, taking its overall product range to more than 500.

The business employs 13 staff, operates an 11,000sq ft warehouse in Droitwich and has two manufacturing joint ventures in China.

Peter said: “Haydon has built its reputation on rapid service, quality products and competitive prices.

“We are constantly innovating and never stand still. Fire systems are currently a major growth area for us, as users seek to invest in safety amidst growing awareness of the fire risk.

“We also see opportunity to expand our own-brand manufacturing service for our wholesale customers.

“The buy-out is the start of a new era for Haydon and I look forward to taking the business to the next stage of its development.”

Frontier Development Capital supported the transaction through its Evolution fund.

Justin Sorby, investment director at Frontier Development Capital, added: “Haydon is a great business that has built a strong reputation and solid industry relationships.

“The funding will enable Peter to build on its success to date and work with the management team to pursue new growth opportunities.”

Ryan Shields and Gurpreet Poonia of Dow Schofield Watts advised Haydon on corporate finance, while Charlotte Thornton-Smith and Haydon Simmonds of HCR Law provided legal advice.

Stephen Dear and Julian Dyer of Ormerod Rutter Chartered Accountants supported the fundraising process.
