Fitness firm flexes muscles with 'dream' city move

A fitness operator has expanded with a city move.

ARV Studios has opened a base in Sunderland’s Sunniside Social.

The firm says the venture “will be like nothing the North East has seen before”.

Promising reformer Pilates classes, ice baths and boxing classes, bosses say the endeavour will also offer treadmill sprint sessions, wellness events and a café.

The business has signed a ten-year lease on a 7500sq ft space on the first floor of Sunniside Social.

Co-founder Anna Rhodes-Voza, who set up the business alongside husband Raf Voza, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have finally secured our dream space.

“This will allow us to cater for the growing number of people wanting to get into reformer Pilates, or try their hand at other high-intensity workouts.”

Raf added: “We want our concept to feel like you’re going out and socialising while still doing something good for your body.

“It’ll be like nothing the North East has seen before.”

The pair were introduced to Sunniside Social by Lofthouse and Partners, and were supported on the move by Sunderland City Council’s business investment and property investment teams.

Patrick Melia, Sunderland City Council chief executive, added: “It is fantastic to have ARV Studios as a Sunniside Social anchor tenant.

“It’s yet another great development for this ever-changing part of the city.”
