Architecture practice expands into Leeds

An architecture and interior design practice has strengthened its presence in the north of England with the opening of a new regional studio in Leeds.

CPMG has launched its latest office in Park Square, expanding its operations to support growing demand across Yorkshire and the wider North.

The new studio will be led by associate director Alex Walker, alongside director Nick Gregory and the wider leadership team, both of whom have strong Yorkshire connections.

They say the expansion will help strengthen relationships with existing clients while supporting growth across its key sectors, including education, healthcare, residential and industrial.

Alex said: “Although CPMG has been actively working in the north of England for many years, it’s a proud moment for me personally to be leading our new studio in Leeds after more than 15 years with the practice.

“We believe Leeds is the ideal base for us to realise our growth ambitions across Yorkshire and surrounding regions.

“As we have done with our other studios, we’re excited to establish relationships with industry leaders in the different sectors and create pathways for local talent to forge a career in the design and construction industry.

“The new Leeds studio provides an opportunity to bring CPMG’s strong culture to a new city and build on our network of clients and contacts across the public and private sectors.”

The practice already has projects underway across the region, including new schools in the North East and a recently completed purpose-built student accommodation scheme in Durham.

Founded more than 30 years ago, CPMG operates UK studios in Nottingham, Birmingham and London, alongside international hubs in China and India.

The Leeds opening forms part of the company’s wider growth strategy as it continues delivering projects across the country and overseas, including a recent purpose-built-student-accommodation scheme in Durham.

Nick added: “All of our studios have opened when the necessary criteria have fallen into place, so that our growth and expansion remains sustainable.

“Leeds will become our latest hub and it will enable us to increase our presence in northern markets.

“Alex and I are both from the Leeds area, so we will have no problems speaking the local language, but we plan to allow our design ethos and experience to do the talking for us.”
