Ficep expands Wakefield headquarters

An engineering machinery supplier is investing in larger premises after growing demand across the structural steel sector.

Ficep UK has secured planning approval to expand its headquarters on the Wakefield Europort industrial estate with a new 658sq metre extension.

The expansion comes as the business continues to see strong demand for its structural steel processing equipment across the UK market.

Bosses say the additional space will provide dedicated storage for new and second-hand machinery, alongside increased capacity for spare parts, tooling and consumables.

They add the project will also include upgraded facilities for staff and customers, including new office space, meeting rooms, a larger breakout area and an improved showroom featuring Ficep machinery.

A new workshop dedicated to apprentice training and a specialist customer training centre will also form part of the development.

Richard Clark, managing director of Ficep UK, saif: “This is a very exciting time for the business.

“Our growing success combined with our future goals mean we have simply outgrown the building we moved into almost 20 years ago.

“However, we are very happy in this location, so to future proof the building from both a stock and employee point of view we decided to invest and create more space.

“The success we have is built on customer service which relies on having stock readily available, and this extension will allow us to continue to meet the demands of the UK steel processing industry.

“We can’t wait to get the project started.”

Construction work on the extension is set to begin this week.
