Yorkshire engineers support CATCH expansion
A Yorkshire engineering consultancy has played a key role in the development of a “world-class” technical training facility supporting the energy and renewables sectors.
Wakefield-based HJ Consulting Engineers (HJCE) has provided structural and civil engineering design services for CATCH 1.5, a new training and industry hub in Stallingborough, near Grimsby and Immingham.
Part funded by Humber Freeport, the 17,500sq ft development will expand CATCH’s training and engagement facilities for the process, engineering, energy and renewables industries.
HJCE supported the project from concept through to detailed design, helping deliver the foundations and steelwork ahead of completion of the building’s roof structure.
The new facility will include conferencing areas, meeting rooms and spaces designed to help employers engage with schools and the wider community.
Constructed using low-carbon building methods, the project forms part of CATCH’s wider investment in skills and industry collaboration across the Humber region.
David Talbot, chief executive of CATCH, said: “HJCE has been an integral partner in helping us to create a world-class facility that’s contributing to the training of highly skilled people, who will be at the forefront of the region’s current and future industrial and manufacturing successes.”
Bosses at HJCE, which also specialises in highway and drainage design, say it continues to see strong demand for its consultancy services across commercial development projects.
The business employs 26 staff at its Wakefield headquarters and is currently recruiting additional team members as it expands its client portfolio.
Andrew Fairburn, HJCE’s managing director, added: “From start to finish, this has been a fantastic project for us to be involved with, seeing us contribute significantly to the delivery of an impressive building.
“The work has showcased our capabilities together with the engineering skills and expertise available locally to help bring forward first class projects and detailed design work.”
