Housebuilder launches apprenticeship scheme
A North East housebuilder is creating new early-career opportunities after launching its first apprenticeship programme.
County Durham-based Banks Homes has started recruiting for three trainee roles as it looks to develop more talent internally while supporting the future workforce of the residential property sector.
The company is seeking a commercial trainee, trainee assistant site manager and trainee sales executive, with successful applicants set to begin their roles by the end of the summer.
Banks Homes has partnered with Northumbria University, New College Durham and Sunderland College to create bespoke training programmes tailored to each position.
The apprenticeships will combine hands-on industry experience with formal qualifications, including opportunities to study up to degree level.
Russ Hall, managing director at Banks Property and Banks Homes, said: “Investing in talent identification is a core part of the Banks Group’s longstanding ‘development with care’ approach, and we have trained many apprentices through our 50-year history who have gone on to enjoy very successful careers both with us and elsewhere.
“The first Banks Homes apprenticeship programme is the latest stage of this process and has been designed to give talented people with a passion for property with a fantastic opportunity to get themselves established in the industry.
“It will combine comprehensive on-the-job training with support from the highly experienced Banks Homes team and a range of outside institutions who’ve been specially chosen for the specialist expertise they can provide for each role.
“Banks Homes has an ambitious, long-term growth strategy in place and we want our new apprentices to be able to play a hands-on role in its successful delivery while also developing themselves as both professionals and people.”
Founded in 2023, Banks Homes is part of the wider Banks Group and is currently developing residential schemes across the North East and Yorkshire, including sites in County Durham, Tees Valley and North Yorkshire.
The apprenticeship initiative builds on the Banks Group’s existing graduate programme, which has already helped develop talent across its property and development businesses.
Five of the group’s current graduate trainees now work within Banks Homes or sister company Banks Property, while previous graduate recruits have secured permanent roles after completing their training programmes.
