Luxury care home opens In York

A new luxury care home development in York has officially opened its doors following the completion of a multi-million-pound construction project.

Clifton Hall, developed by East Yorkshire care provider Yorkare, has welcomed its first residents after work completed on the £6 million scheme close to York city centre.

Built by construction firm Hobson & Porter, the three-storey development features 60 en-suite bedrooms offering residential, respite and day care, alongside a dedicated dementia care floor.

Located off Shipton Road beside York Sports Club, the care home also includes landscaped gardens, a bowling green and raised planting areas.

Residents will have access to facilities including restaurant-style dining rooms, two in-house bars, a cinema and a beauty and hairdressing salon.

Shane Talbot, homes manager at Yorkare, said: “At Clifton Hall, we’ve created a home that blends comfort, elegance and a real sense of community.

“Luxury here isn’t just about beautiful surroundings – it’s about how people feel.

“Every detail at Clifton Hall has been thoughtfully designed to ensure residents can enjoy fulfilling lives with comfort, dignity and joy.

“The home’s grounds overlook nearby York Sports fields, offering wonderful open views that are perfect for sports enthusiasts and for those who simply enjoy watching the activity and energy of the local community.

“It’s a setting that brings together exceptional outlooks and a strong sense of connection to the wider area.

“We’ve already received a fantastic level of interest, with enquiries continuing to come in and people visiting the home every day.

“This demonstrates the strong demand for exceptional care homes that truly stand out in this sought-after part of North Yorkshire.”

The project marks the ninth collaboration between Yorkare and Hobson & Porter.

As part of the development, Yorkare has also donated land to neighbouring York Sports Club, helping create several new sports pitches.

Richard Hunter, managing director of Hobson & Porter, added: “This development has seen a redundant medical centre demolished to make way for a magnificent new care home that has completely transformed this disused site - all in less than 18 months!

“This is testament to the hard work of the entire development team and our supply chain.

“After successfully delivering eight other care homes for Yorkare throughout Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, this one is arguably the best yet.

“It’s in a fantastic location overlooking the tennis courts, cricket and rugby pitches at York Sports Club and is a striking building in stunning grounds that genuinely enhances and complements the surrounding area.

“As a company, it’s a superb development for us to be associated with.”
