Northumberland to Unveil Major investment Opportunity at UKREiiF 2026.jpg

County set to showcase growth ambitions

A North East local authority is preparing to unveil new investment opportunities as it looks to accelerate economic growth across the region.

Northumberland County Council will use this year’s UK Real Estate Investment & Infrastructure Forum (UKREiiF) in Leeds to showcase the county’s long-term development ambitions and reveal further details of a significant new commercial proposition.

The council, alongside Business Northumberland and the wider North East delegation, will highlight a range of strategic development sites aligned with its newly launched Economic Strategy.

Key locations set to feature include Ashwood Business Park, West Hartford Business Park and opportunity sites linked to the Port of Blyth, including Battleship Wharf and the Bates Clean Energy Terminal Investment Zone site.

Together, the developments are expected to support sectors including advanced manufacturing, clean energy, logistics, digital technology and AI.

West Hartford Business Park recently secured planning permission and is expected to deliver more than one million sq ft of commercial space aimed at supporting inward investment and job creation.

Officials at Northumberland County Council says the county’s strategic location, transport connectivity and growing clean energy sector continue to strengthen its appeal to investors.

The authority will formally unveil further details of its latest investment plans during a presentation at the North East Pavilion at UKREiiF on May 19.

Councillor Richard Wearmouth, cabinet member for regeneration at Northumberland County Council, said: “We are building on significant investment successes, and UKREiiF provides the perfect platform to showcase the scale of our ambition.

“Our new Economic Strategy sets a clear direction for the future, and the strength of our investment sites demonstrates that.

“We are ready to partner with investors and developers to deliver high-quality, sustainable opportunities.

“We’re excited to share more about what’s next for Northumberland.”
