Newcastle Airport promotes three firefighters

Newcastle International Airport has promoted three members of its Rescue and Firefighting Service in recognition of their leadership, professionalism and commitment.

Callum Davison has been appointed fire station manager, while Owen Reed has been promoted to watch manager and Chris Brennan to crew manager.

The trio bring a combined 33 years of experience to the Airport’s fire service, which provides round-the-clock emergency cover and operational safety support.

Callum said: “I’m incredibly proud to be promoted to station manager at Newcastle Airport’s Rescue and Firefighting Service.

“Working at the Airport has given me the opportunity to develop my skills and progress through the ranks, and there’s no greater feeling than knowing our team plays a vital role in helping to keep colleagues and passengers safe.”

Owen added: “Becoming watch manager is a big milestone for me.

“Working for the Rescue and Firefighting Service is very rewarding and it’s a fantastic place to build a career.”

Chris added: “I’m delighted to be promoted to crew manager.

“It’s a great opportunity to take the next step in my career and I look forward to continuing to support the team and delivering the high safety standards our passengers and colleagues expect.”

Alongside their operational duties, Callum and Owen recently joined colleagues in climbing Scafell Pike in full fire kit and breathing apparatus, raising more than £2300 for the Airport’s charity partner, True Colours Theatre.

Paul Farmer, director of operations at Newcastle Airport, added: “Callum, Owen and Chris have each demonstrated exceptional commitment, professionalism and leadership throughout their time with our Rescue and Firefighting Service.

“Their promotions show how Newcastle Airport invests in its people and provides clear pathways for development and progression and I would like to congratulate all three on their well-deserved appointments.”
