PTSG fuels fire safety growth with BDS deal
A Yorkshire specialist services group has strengthened its fire safety operations with the acquisition of a UK compliance and engineering business.
Castleford-based Premier Technical Services Group Ltd (PTSG) has bought BDS Group Limited as part of its ongoing strategy to expand its fire solutions division.
Headquartered in South London, BDS Group includes Bespoke Detection Services and BDS Electrical FM, which provide fire safety engineering, testing, inspection, maintenance and electrical compliance services across the UK.
The acquisition adds further scale and recurring compliance-led work to PTSG’s portfolio, with BDS Group supporting commercial, industrial and infrastructure customers nationwide.
BDS Group has built a strong reputation within fire detection and compliance services, supported by long-standing customer relationships and a substantial volume of recurring maintenance and testing contracts.
The business also maintains a long-term Tier 1 supplier relationship with a major global motor industry brand.
Bosses say the deal aligns with its long-term growth strategy focused on specialist compliance businesses operating in highly regulated markets with strong demand for essential maintenance services.
BDS Group’s senior leadership team – Kevin Blyde, Mitchell Blyde and Anthony Watts – will remain with the company to ensure continuity for customers and staff.
Paul Teasdale, PTSG’s co-founder and executive chairman, who led on the deal, said: “This acquisition aligns closely with PTSG’s strategy of acquiring high-quality specialist businesses operating in resilient, compliance-driven markets with strong cash generation characteristics and clear opportunities for long-term value creation.
“BDSG has demonstrated a consistent track record of profitability, strong operating margins and resilient cash conversion, underpinned by a predominantly recurring and repeatable revenue profile.
“The transaction also provides further critical mass within PTSG’s Fire Solutions division and enhances the Group’s ability to deliver integrated compliance services at scale across the UK.
“This deal reflects PTSG’s disciplined approach to strategic M&A and our continued focus on building market-leading positions within essential compliance and safety-critical services.”
Kevin added: “We are proud of the business we have built and the long-standing relationships we have developed with our customers, our people and our supply chain partners over the past 25 years.
“Joining PTSG provides an exciting opportunity to accelerate the next phase of growth for the business while maintaining the culture, technical standards and customer focus that have underpinned our success to date.
“PTSG’s scale, sector expertise and strategic vision make the company the ideal long-term partner for BDSG and we are excited about the opportunities ahead.”
Greg Ward, chief executive at PTSG, added: “BDSG is a highly complementary acquisition which strengthens our position within the fire detection and compliance market while adding further scale, engineering capability and recurring revenues to the group.
“The business operates in resilient, regulation-led markets with strong fundamentals and has built an excellent reputation for technical delivery, customer service and operational reliability over many years.
“We are particularly pleased that Kevin, Mitchell and Anthony will continue to lead the business moving forward and I look forward to working closely with them and the rest of the BDSG team.
“It is clear that their sector expertise, customer relationships and highly experienced engineering team provide strong foundations for continued growth.”
