Manchester Mum Storms Amazon Book Charts Outselling Marketing Giants Seth Godin and Alex Hormozi
This week, a Stockport-based entrepreneurial mum, is celebrating a remarkable milestone, having outsold marketing legends Seth Godin, whose 'This is Marketing' is a global bestseller, and Alex Hormozi, author of '$100M Leads', placing herself firmly among the world's most-read business voices in the Amazon book charts.
Lyndsey Meredith, 42, who has always loved writing is leading the way with a book that shows others how to follow her path. Her journey to authorship began long before her business career, when she spent hours writing short stories as a child, and dreamt of being published. She even submitted work to a magazine, but was told the only published established writers - a bugbear which sits at the heart of her reason for writing this book - to give ‘non writers’ the chance to be heard.
'AUTHORity: How to Plan, Write, Launch and Leverage a Book That Grows Your Business’ flew up the charts in several categories on Amazon, including Career Advancement and Professional Development, Small Business eBooks, Public Relations, Home Based Business, Self Employment, Careers and Sales and Marketing eBooks.
As a child Lyndsey buried her dream of being a writer, completing a degree in Sociology, building a career in recruitment, and in 2010 starting her own recruitment business. It was through sharing content online, as LinkedIn was first starting to grow, that she rediscovered her love of writing.
The real turning point came when she began reading business and personal development books and noticed something that changed her thinking entirely. The authors she admired had not come via traditional publishers. Many had published their own books -and this was a revelation to her. She said: “What fascinated me most wasn't just the information, but the connection. A well-written business book did more than teach. It introduced me to the author’s way of thinking and built an immediate sense of trust. I found myself wanting to go further with them. I visited their websites, downloaded their resources, joined their programmes and, in many cases, went on to work with them on a deeper level. I never questioned their expertise. They had quite literally 'written the book on it.'
She adds:”At that point, the idea of writing my own book resurfaced, but so did the belief that it was out of reach. I assumed these authors had decades of experience and traditional publishing deals. I was wrong. As I looked more closely, I began to realise that many of the books I was reading had been self-published. These authors hadn't waited for permission. They'd decided to write a book and had made it happen themselves. That realisation changed everything.”
Lyndsey went on to become a lead author in a collaborative publishing project, gaining first-hand experience of the process and going on to work on further books with the same publisher. She was later presented with the opportunity to purchase a bookshop in her local village, and while she chose not to proceed, it confirmed that books would be central to her future. The Easiest Choice Publishing was born from that moment, combining her love of writing, her coaching background, and her expertise in sales and marketing. She is now a Certified Positive Psychology Coach, certified in Subconscious Marketing, and in her 17th year in business. She has helped over 100 authors achieve number one bestseller status on Amazon.
Now, with 'AUTHORity', she is sharing everything she knows. The book, published through her own business, The Easiest Choice Publishing, was written to show business owners that writing a book is not only possible, it is one of the most powerful things they can do to build credibility, attract clients and grow their business. Through her signature AUTHORity Book Formula™, she guides readers step by step through the process of planning, writing, launching and leveraging a book that continues to work for them long after it is published.
The statistics behind her mission are striking. Research suggests that 97% of people aspire to write a book, yet only 0.6% ever do. Lyndsey believes that gap represents a significant and largely untapped opportunity for business owners. She also points to the trust-building power of books, noting that it typically takes an increasing number of touchpoints for a prospective client to trust someone enough to buy. A book, she argues, delivers dozens of those touchpoints in a matter of hours.
She said: "Your book is not just something you publish. It is something you use. So many business owners are sitting on a book they know they should write, and what is holding them back is not ability, it is knowing where to start. That is exactly what AUTHORity™ is designed to solve."
On the topic of self-publishing versus traditional publishing, Lyndsey has a clear and passionate view: "There is a misconception that traditional publishing is better. But for business owners, self-publishing can often be the smarter choice. You have full control over your content, your timeline, your distribution and how you use your book. Your book becomes part of your customer journey rather than a standalone product. And unlike traditional publishing, there is no barrier to entry."
The book launched with an online campaign and a preview launch at The Marketing and Sales Summit in Manchester last week, and is driven by a clear and ambitious mission: to impact over 1,000 businesses by helping over 1,000 authors become number one bestsellers on Amazon.
Lyndsey added: "I wrote this book because I know that if you are brilliant at what you do and you can talk about it with passion, you are capable of writing a book. The process exists. The path is clear. You just need someone to show you the way."
'AUTHORity: How to Plan, Write, Launch and Leverage a Book That Grows Your Business' is available now on Amazon.
Here Lyndsey shares five steps from her AUTHORity Book Formula™ to help business owners get started:
- Align your book with your business before you write a single word. Your book should support the work you do, attract the audience you want to serve and strengthen your position in your field. When that alignment is in place, your book becomes a strategic asset rather than simply something you have written.
- Understand your ideal reader deeply. Every impactful book is written with a specific person in mind. Get clear on who they are, the challenges they face and the transformation they are seeking. When you understand your reader, you can take them on a journey that builds trust and has them wanting to take the next step with you.
- Transform your idea into one clear concept. Most business owners have more than one book in them, which is exactly what stops them from starting. Refine your thinking into a single, clear and compelling concept that defines what the book is about, who it is for and the outcome it is designed to deliver.
- Organise your structure before you write. A clear structure makes the writing process significantly easier and your book much easier to read. Map your ideas into chapters and a logical journey for your reader. That outline becomes the foundation everything else is built on.
- Realise and Refine Your Manuscript: This is where your book begins to take shape and the stage that will usually take the longest. You write your chapters and develop your manuscript, then refine it through editing and structural improvements so it’s ready for publication.
