LMA spotlights region ahead of campus launch
A creative education provider is strengthening its North East presence by connecting aspiring creatives with leading figures from across the entertainment industry.
LMA is hosting a Industry Insight Event at Tyneside Cinema tomorrow (May 21) as part of a wider programme of workshops, talks and careers events designed to connect young people with the creative industries.
The event will feature a high-profile panel including Travis guitarist Andy Dunlop, Bloodhound Gang drummer Adam Perry, Dua Lipa choreographer Robyn Rae Laud, North East Screen chief executive Alison Gwynn and West End performer Erin Caldwell.
The initiative comes as momentum continues to build around the launch of LMA Newcastle, which is due to open in September 2026.
Already operating campuses in Liverpool and London, LMA specialises in music, performance, film, media and digital creative disciplines with a strong focus on industry-led learning and live projects.
The Newcastle campus will offer undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes while helping strengthen the region’s creative talent pipeline.
Organisers say tomorrow’s event reflects growing confidence in the North East’s creative industries, with increasing investment into music, film production and live performance across the region.
Additional free workshops and industry events are expected to be announced throughout the summer ahead of the official campus opening.
Deni Chambers, principal of LMA Newcastle, said: “The response from Newcastle and the wider North East since announcing LMA has honestly been incredible.
“There’s a real appetite here for an institution that genuinely connects education with industry and gives young people direct access to opportunity.
“This event is about opening doors and making the creative industries feel tangible and achievable.
“We want young people to hear directly from people who’ve built careers at the very top of music, performance, television and film and realise those pathways are possible for them too.”
Bloodhound Gang drummer Adam Perry added: “The North East is becoming one of the UK’s most exciting creative regions and developing local talent is absolutely vital to sustaining that growth.
“Events like this are hugely important because they help young people see the opportunities available right here on their doorstep.”
