Funding roadshow heads to Yorkshire

A business finance roadshow is heading to Yorkshire as banks, investors and funding organisations prepare to meet growing companies seeking support for expansion and innovation.

The national FUEL roadshow, organised by business support and funding specialist Umi, will arrive at Rotherham’s AESSEAL New York Stadium on Wednesday, June 10, bringing together major lenders, Government representatives, angel investors and business support organisations for a day focused on helping businesses access growth funding.

Among the organisations attending are NatWest, Barclays, Santander, Allica Bank, Mercia Ventures, Maven, Business Enterprise Fund and FW Capital.

The event aims to give businesses direct access to funding providers and advisers through face-to-face “Meet the Money” sessions designed to help firms secure investment and growth support.

Organisers say the initiative has already generated strong results following its first event in Newcastle, where more than 180 meetings took place between businesses and finance providers, helping unlock potential deals worth more than £2.6 million.

Nicki Clark OBE, chief executive of UMi, said: “We were absolutely delighted with the response the first FUEL event received and are hopeful that the Yorkshire event will prove just as successful as word continues to spread.

“The roadshow was designed so that business owners up and down the country can access everything they need in one place over the space of a few hours and the feedback we’ve received demonstrates how the events are achieving just that.

“It has not only helped facilitate over 180 meetings between businesses and funders/investors but also helped many go away confident in the knowledge that they are on the right path and can now take the next steps required to successfully access finance for their business, so we’d urge any Yorkshire business owner to sign up and secure their place to avoid missing out.”

The roadshow is backed by partners including NatWest, Purbeck Personal Guarantee Insurance, CO4CH, CBI and the British Business Bank.

Representatives from the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority will also attend the Rotherham event to deliver workshops focused on regional business support opportunities.

Heidi Simpson, regional accelerator director Scotland and North of England at NatWest, added: “NatWest is committed to backing the innovators and recently announced plans to grow our Accelerator community to 50,000 members across the UK in 2026.

“The North of England is a thriving hub for innovation and we’re delighted to play a part in the FUEL, the business finance and funding roadshow, bringing our expertise across the bank to support ambitious founders from across the North today, and in the future as they grow their businesses.”

Further FUEL events are planned across the UK later this year, including a stop at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium on Thursday, September 24, alongside future events in Liverpool, Cardiff, the Midlands and the South East.
