Builder in tune with recording studio work
A building contractor is hitting the right notes with a music sector deal.
Arcas Building Solutions is transforming Newcastle Quayside’s Grade II-listed Coronation Building into a recording studio.
Officials say the project will deliver a “world-class” venue featuring four recording studios, a live room, podcasting suites and a photography and film studio.
They add the site will be occupied by creative studio SW6 One, which counts Disney and Warner Music among its clients.
Work on Coronation Building, which is owned by the Live Theatre, is set to be finished this summer.
Michael Nesbit, managing director of Gateshead-based Arcas Building Solutions, said: “This scheme is designed to create a high-quality, industry-standard facility capable of attracting leading artists, producers and creative talent to the region.
“The finished building will provide a dynamic, modern space that supports creativity, collaboration and growth within the local arts sector.”
The venture has been backed by cash from the North East Mayoral Strategic Authority via the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
