Greenshank appoints NSIPs director

Greenshank Environmental, headquartered in London, has appointed Shen Neville-Clarke as NSIPs and major projects director as the business prepares for new Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) rules covering nationally significant infrastructure schemes from November 2026.

His appointment comes ahead of mandatory BNG requirements being extended to nationally significant infrastructure projects, including major transport, energy and utilities developments.

Shen joins with experience across natural capital partnerships, ecosystem restoration and landscape-scale environmental delivery, having previously held senior roles at Zora Ecosystems.

He said: “The next phase of BNG will require infrastructure projects to think differently about long-term environmental delivery, risk and stewardship.

“There is a real opportunity to show how nature-based solutions can support both development and environmental recovery in practice, and Greenshank is already doing that across a growing portfolio of live schemes.”

Greenshank specialises in Biodiversity Net Gain and nutrient neutrality schemes, supporting developers, landowners and infrastructure projects through environmental markets and habitat restoration initiatives.

The hire forms part of a wider expansion across the business following significant growth in live schemes and the launch of the UK’s first dedicated online marketplace for Biodiversity Net Gain credits in late 2025.

Additional recent appointments include Spencer Lehrer from IBM, Declan Sealy from Ricardo’s Water and Environment practice and Rob Mudford as project and operations manager, further strengthening Greenshank’s commercial, technical and operational capabilities.

Dr Gabriel Connor-Streich, chief executive and principal environmental scientist at Greenshank Environmental, added: “As environmental markets mature, developers, infrastructure providers and landowners are looking for delivery partners with practical experience, technical credibility and the ability to deliver robust schemes at scale.

“These appointments strengthen our ability to support increasingly complex projects, particularly as BNG requirements expand into major infrastructure later this year.

“We’re continuing to grow because demand for delivery-led environmental solutions is growing too.”
