New owners chart course for 'hidden gem' marina
A marina is set to be upgraded following an ownership change.
Aire Valley Marina has been bought by husband and wife Declan and Lucy Colleran.
The duo say the swoop for the Leeds-based inland marina will deliver improvements to toilets, moorings and further areas of the site over coming years.
The deal follows the retirement of Aire Valley Marina’s longstanding owner, with the venue now forming part of Colleran Investments – a portfolio operated by 29-year-old Declan and Lucy alongside DC Environmental and Aquatic Restorations.
Declan said: “The marina is a special place, and you can really see how much the residents love being here.
“Some of my favourite memories are of boating with Lucy and our two young children.
“We keep our own leisure boat in York and enjoy boating holidays abroad, so the opportunity to acquire Aire Valley Marina seemed a perfect fit.”
Lucy added: “We want to preserve the easy-going, relaxed atmosphere.
“As the previous owners enjoy retirement, Declan and I look forward to continuing to develop one of Yorkshire’s hidden gems.”
