Ed tech provider targets further growth

A North East education technology provider is targeting further expansion after helping hundreds of thousands of children improve their reading and maths skills.

Gateshead-based Daisy Education has supported more than 300,000 pupils over the past year through its digital learning platforms designed to boost confidence and attainment in schools.

Formerly known as Reading Solutions UK, the business rebranded in 2025 as it expanded beyond literacy support and launched DreamBox Maths into the UK market.

The company now works with around 1700 schools nationwide, providing teachers with technology designed to support reading and maths development while helping reduce pressure on classroom resources and staff time.

Over the last 12 months, Daisy Education has added around 300 new reading customers and 60 new maths customers.

Bosses say the company is now forecasting 15 per cent revenue growth this year, driven by continued demand for its Reading Plus programme alongside growing adoption of DreamBox Maths.

They add that its North East roots remain central to its identity and growth plans, as it continues to invest in resources, webinars and events designed to support teachers.

Ian Fitzpatrick, managing director of Daisy Education, said: “The last year has been about establishing DreamBox Maths in the UK market and really understanding how it can best support teachers and pupils here.

“Bringing a new product to the UK market always involves careful adaptation, even with years of experience in education technology.

“We’ve worked closely with schools to ensure DreamBox Maths reflects the needs of UK classrooms, supports curriculum priorities and delivers meaningful impact for teachers and pupils.

“By the end of last year, we had built real momentum.

“The feedback from teachers has been incredibly positive, with schools already seeing improvements in pupil confidence, resilience and engagement in maths, particularly among children who may previously have struggled to feel successful in the subject.”

Ian added: “The North East is a brilliant place to run a business.

“The network here is fantastic, the people are excellent and there is a real sense that everyone wants to see each other succeed.

“The region has a proud industrial history, but we are now building the next generation of high-quality jobs.

“Education has a huge role to play in that, particularly when it comes to literacy and numeracy.

“Our ambition is to continue growing in a way that keeps schools and our team at the heart of what we do.

“The more schools we support, the more children we can help to build confidence and succeed in learning, and that’s what motivates us most.

“As we grow, we also want to continue investing in our team here in the North East, creating opportunities locally and using technology to enhance the support we provide, while still maintaining the personal relationships schools value.”

Daisy Education’s annual International Reading Conference will take place online in June, bringing together educators and experts to explore best practice in reading development.
