Funding fires up home provider's tower upgrades
A housing association is rolling out property improvements following £1.2 million support.
Salix Homes is set to upgrade heating systems across three Salford tower blocks.
Bosses say the changes will modernise communal apparatus across the 1960s Magnolia Court, Sycamore Court and Mulberry Court high rises, which will cut energy waste and carbon emissions.
Work is earmarked to start next year.
The project has been backed by funding from the Government’s Heat Network Efficiency Scheme.
Glenn Martin, Salix Homes’ director of investment, development and sustainability, said: “These upgrades will help ensure our homes are fit for the future and meet emerging standards for low-carbon housing.
“They will also help ease pressure on household energy costs.”
Louise Singleton, Heat Network Efficiency Scheme programme manager, added: “We are delighted to award this vital funding for residents in Salford and look forward to seeing the progress Salix Homes makes to create more efficient homes.”
