Garden centre 'set to bloom' following takeover
A garden centre is under new ownership.
Cranswick Garden Centre has been bought by the McCombie Group.
Boss Zak McCombie says the deal will build on growth success, with “investment in recent years (set to) continue over the coming years”.
Based in Cranswick, near Driffield, East Yorkshire, the horticultural hub spans more than four acres and includes glasshouses, a shop and a café-bistro.
Zak said: “Cranswick is a lovely centre that has a great customer base.
“The centre has benefited from a lot of investment in recent years, and we will continue with that over the coming years.”
Former owners Ray and Carolyn Sharpe added: “Cranswick has been a rewarding business to grow.
“We’re pleased to hand it over to a new owner with the energy and ambition to take it further.”
The garden centre’s sale was supported by national business property adviser Christie & Co, with Andrew Birnie, director – retail and leisure, managing the deal.
He said: “We are seeing a varied profile of buyers coming into the garden centre market.
“This deal is a good example, with a new entrant acquiring a high-quality, profitable business with the intention of growing a broader portfolio.”
