Housing provider secures charity arm backing

A social housing provider has secured support for a charity venture.

Karbon Group has been backed by the Charity Commission to launch a new benevolent arm.

Bosses say the endeavour – known as Karbon Foundation – will “help create lasting social impact in the North East and Yorkshire”.

Set to be rolled out this summer, they add it will provide services and support across areas including financial wellbeing, employment, skills and training, community investment and grants and tackling social isolation.

It will be led by Karbon’s assistant director of customer and community engagement Philip Pollard, and guided by a newly appointed board of trustees.

Paul Fiddaman, Karbon Group chief executive, said: “We recognise the role we can play in supporting our wider communities, and see the charitable arm as an opportunity to strengthen our community-impact activities when it’s needed most.

“Karbon Foundation will help people in our homes and wider communities to have more secure, connected and empowered futures.”

Headquartered in Newcastle, Karbon oversees more than 34,000 homes across the North East and Yorkshire.
