XIC marks milestone with management deal
An Aberdeen creative print specialist is turning the page on a new chapter after completing a management ownership deal during its 40th anniversary year.
XIC, founded in 1986 by Bill Fawcett, has been acquired entirely by managing director Murray Alexander and director Jason Moir, who have both spent more than 30 years with the firm.
The company has built a reputation for innovation within the Scottish print sector, becoming one of the first businesses in the country to introduce digital composition and Apple Mac workstations during the 1980s.
Today, XIC produces around 5000 orders annually for clients across sectors including energy, legal, hospitality, automotive and renewables.
Over the last two years, the company has continued investing in new technology, including large-format printers, digital presses and upgraded software systems designed to improve efficiency and output quality.
XIC, which currently supports 325 active clients, has also delivered large-scale projects across the UK and internationally, including work in China, Dubai, Spain, Malta, Singapore, Netherlands and Germany.
Sustainability continues to play a central role in the company’s operations, with measures including chemical-free production processes, sustainably sourced paper, an all-electric vehicle fleet and recycling 80 per cent of its waste.
Murray, who joined XIC in 1991, said: “Reaching 40 years in business is a huge achievement and something Jason and I are incredibly proud of.
“Having both started our careers here, taking full ownership of XIC feels like a natural next step.
“The trust our clients place in us, reflected in recent contract renewals, is a real testament to our talented team and the quality of work we deliver.
“Looking ahead, we’re excited to expand XIC’s display capabilities and explore the use of AI to enhance efficiency and creativity across our business.”
