Motor dealer 'in growth gear' after worker drive
A family-owned motor dealer has hailed its commitment to staff after accelerating to strong financial results.
JCT600 chalked up pre-tax profit of £20.1 million against £1.326 billion revenues in the year to December 31.
Bosses say the numbers were boosted by a renewed focus on workers, which helped the Bradford-headquartered operator notch a 2.1 per cent rise in used vehicle sales and a five per cent service turnover increase.
They add improved employee satisfaction and reduced staff turnover also helped cut recruitment costs, with shopfloor cost-saving ideas lowering expenses as a proportion of turnover.
Founded in Bradford in 1946, JCT600 employs more than 2150 people and represents a number of brands across dealerships in Yorkshire, the North East, Derbyshire and Lincolnshire.
Earlier this year, it opened a base in Hessle, near Hull, which it said would create ten jobs across sales and aftersales roles.
John Tordoff, JCT600 executive chair, said: “Over the last few years, we’ve made a deliberate and sustained investment in our colleagues and our customers to support long-term growth
“We are now seeing the impact of that approach.
“A happier, more engaged team delivers a better experience.
“Customers notice that, they value it and they choose to come back.”
John added: “The business turns 80 this summer, and we’re encouraged to see more customers than ever actively choosing to do business with us.
“It shows our focus on experience is not only improving satisfaction, but is strengthening our competitive position.”
The firm’s portfolio includes sites in Boston, Bradford, Chesterfield, Leeds, Lincoln, Newcastle, Stockton-on-Tees and York.
