GT3 architect takes regional CIAT role
GT3 Architects has announced that Chartered Architectural Technologist Callum McChesney has been appointed aspiration chair for the northern region at the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT).
Based in the practice’s Newcastle studio, Callum recently joined GT3 Architects and brings almost five years of industry experience working on major projects across a range of sectors.
The aspiration chair role focuses on supporting students and early-career professionals, helping to promote Architectural Technology and encourage new talent into the profession.
Callum became a Chartered Architectural Technologist in 2024 and has developed expertise in technical design, sustainability and collaborative project delivery.
He will combine his new regional responsibilities with his role at GT3, where he is working on complex live projects and contributing to the practice’s people-led and sustainable design approach.
Callum said: “I’ve wanted to get more involved with CIAT for a little while now and aspiration gives me the perfect opportunity.
“I enjoy helping students and those starting out in this profession, navigating education and the early years of their career can be full of uncertainty and I hope I can provide some helpful guidance to these people within the northern region.
“There is also a clear shortage of Architectural Technologists within this region, and I would like to help raise the profile of the discipline and encourage more people into it.”
Callum’s appointment comes as GT3 Architects celebrates its tenth anniversary and reflects the practice’s continued investment in professional development and the future of the industry.
Neil Hardy, director at GT3 Architects, added: “We’re delighted to see Callum take on this important position alongside his role at GT3.
“Architectural Technologists bring a highly specialised skillset, and as a practice we know how challenging it can be to find and nurture that kind of talent.
“Supporting the next generation of professionals is vital for the future of the profession, and Callum’s enthusiasm, technical ability and genuine commitment to helping others make him a great fit for the role.”
