New network launched to boost opportunity
A new countywide partnership is set to bring together employment, skills, health and business support services to help more people access work and improve their wellbeing.
The Work Smart Live Well Network has launched in Northumberland, creating a collaborative platform for organisations including training providers, employability services, health and wellbeing groups, and employers.
Delivered by Northumberland County Council in partnership with Thriving Together, the initiative is part funded by the EI Trailblazer programme and the North East Mayoral Strategic Authority.
The network aims to strengthen collaboration between organisations through regular meetings, events, digital channels and a dedicated website.
Members will be able to share intelligence, access funding and policy updates, and develop new partnerships to better support residents and businesses.
Officials say the initiative will make it easier for people across Northumberland to access coordinated support to find work, develop skills and progress their careers.
By bringing employment, health, skills and employer engagement services together, the programme is designed to reduce barriers to opportunity and create clearer pathways into sustainable jobs.
The network also aims to support healthier lives, stronger career prospects and more inclusive economic growth, helping ensure residents and businesses can benefit from a more connected support system across the county.
Councillor Richard Wearmouth, deputy leader of Northumberland County Council, said: “The launch of the Work Smart Live Well Network marks an important step forward for Northumberland.
“As national and regional priorities evolve, it’s essential that we take a more joined-up and strategic approach to supporting residents into work, while improving health and wellbeing outcomes.
“We welcome the opportunity to collaborate with partners across the county through this new network and are excited about what we can achieve together in the years ahead."
Nicola Duffy, programme manager for Thriving Together, added: “Organisations interested in joining the Work Smart Live Well Network are encouraged to register their interest and be part of Northumberland’s next chapter in inclusive economic growth by visiting our website.”
