Football freestyler kicks off protein bar brand

A Northamptonshire food manufacturing specialist has helped bring a new influencer-backed protein bar range to market.

Corby-based Food Nutrition Partners (FNP) has supported the development and production of TEKS, a sports nutrition brand fronted by five-time world record football freestyler Ben Nuttall.

The range has initially been created for the football community, both on and off the pitch, and launches with triple-layered bars in salted caramel, cookies and cream and chocolate brownie flavours.

Each bar contains 21g of protein and 4.6g of fibre, with low sugar content and a focus on taste, texture and quality.

FNP used its nutritional bar manufacturing expertise and production facilities in Northamptonshire to help develop the product, working with Ben and the TEKS team on ingredients, texture and nutritional profile.

The partnership also focused on ensuring the bars could be produced efficiently and compliantly ahead of launch.

Ben said: “We wanted to make something that people would want to eat daily, helping them to achieve their best performance through high-quality nutrition.

“As someone who relies on great nutrition to do their job, I know that getting the right nutritional profile can sometimes be hard – we want to change that.

“Flavour, texture and ingredients are key for this, so we needed to find the right partner to help us create a product that will cut through the market.”

Chris Kent, business development manager at FNP, added: “From the outset, Ben had a clear vision for what he wanted TEKS to be – a protein bar that genuinely tasted great while still delivering on quality and nutrition.

“Together we’ve been able to showcase not only our manufacturing capabilities at scale, but also our ability to collaborate with brands to bring innovative, market-ready products to life quickly and effectively.

“It’s an exciting time to launch, and according to consumer insights group Tracksuit, nearly 45 per cent of Brits buy protein bars.

“Our team worked closely with Ben throughout the development process to create a product that matched Ben’s vision and resonated with his audience as he enters this competitive space – just in time as football fever builds ahead of the FIFA World Cup this June.”

Ben Maughan, chief executive at TEKS, added: “We were looking for a trusted manufacturing partner that could deliver both quality and scale, and Food Nutrition Partners was the ideal choice.

“Every meeting and factory visit has felt like a collaboration, helping us to bring this fast-paced launch to market at just the right time.”
