Facilities firm eyes growth with six-figure backing

A facilities management firm is targeting significant expansion after securing a six-figure investment to support new jobs, apprenticeships and rising regional demand.

Robinsons Facilities Services has received funding from NPIF II – FW Capital Debt Finance, managed by FW Capital as part of the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund II (NPIF II).

The company specialises in hard facilities management, delivering planned and reactive services across HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety and water hygiene systems.

By providing a single point of accountability, Robinsons helps commercial property managers and building owners navigate increasingly complex compliance, maintenance and emergency response requirements.

It has built strong regional relationships, with customer retention of around 95 per cent and 24/7 emergency support available when required.

Bosses at the Harrogate-based business, which provides commercial building maintenance, repair and compliance services, say they aim to double turnover over the next five years.

They add the investment will support continued growth, including the creation of new roles and further investment in apprenticeships to strengthen its pipeline of skilled employees.

Luke Kitchen, managing director at Robinsons Facilities Services, said: “We’ve just completed a five-year plan that saw the business treble in size, and this latest investment will support our next phase as we focus on doubling turnover over the next five years.

“As compliance requirements become more complex, property managers and building owners are increasingly looking for a partner they can rely on to take full responsibility.

“We don’t just coordinate contractors; we take ownership of the outcome and make sure the job is done properly.

“Our combination of in-house expertise and a carefully vetted supply chain means clients get consistent quality, clear accountability and a responsive service without the complexity of managing multiple providers.

“The support from Lindsey McMenamin and the FW Capital team has been instrumental.

“They have taken the time to understand our business model and long-term vision, and we’re pleased to be continuing that relationship.”

The deal marks the third round of funding Robinsons Facilities Services has received from FW Capital since 2020, following previous support that helped fund its acquisition of Bensons Gas Engineering.

That deal added more than 400 client sites to the firm’s portfolio, taking the total number of managed sites beyond 1500 across Yorkshire and the Humber.

Lindsey McMenamin, portfolio manager at FW Capital, added: “Robinsons Facilities Services is a prime example of a well-established Yorkshire business with a clear vision and a strong management team.

“We have enjoyed an excellent relationship with Luke and the team since our initial investment in 2020.

“This next phase comes on the back of a significant surge in market demand, driven by increasingly complex compliance requirements and the need for reliable, high-quality service delivery.

“We are delighted to support Robinsons Facilities Services as they continue their growth journey, demonstrating how flexible access to finance can support ambitious regional businesses.”

Operated by British Business Bank, the £660 million NPIF II covers the North and provides loans from £25,000 to £2 million and equity investment up to £5 million to help small and medium-sized businesses.
