Detective duo launch Durham venture
A new entertainment venture in Durham is looking to crack the case on a new form of immersive leisure experience rooted in forensic investigation and problem-solving.
Detective Rooms Durham has been founded by award-winning private investigator Jen Jarvie and former forensic photographer and expert witness Howard Little.
The business offers immersive experiences that challenge participants to examine evidence, assess information and solve realistic cases using methods inspired by genuine investigative work.
Aiming to stand apart from traditional escape rooms, the venture focuses on analytical thinking and real-world problem-solving rather than puzzles and time-based challenges.
The founders believe the concept will appeal to a wide range of customers, including tourists, corporate teams, networking groups and private event organisers.
Jen said: “We’ve taken our professional backgrounds and transformed them into something that is both entertaining and educational.
“People are increasingly looking for experiences that are memorable, interactive, and genuinely engaging.”
Howard believes the concept will appeal to the growing team-building and professional development market, while also creating partnership opportunities with local businesses, tourism organisations and corporate clients across the North East.
He added: “Our backgrounds have given us a unique perspective on how investigations work in the real world.
“We’ve used that experience to create scenarios that encourage collaboration, critical thinking, and leadership.”
To mark the opening, the company is hosting open days on June 12 and June 25 from 10am until 4pm, giving residents and businesses the chance to explore the venue and learn more about the experiences on offer.
