Cash and carry firm grows with wholesaler takeover
A national cash and carry operator has expanded with a takeover.
Bestway Wholesale has bought DB Ramsden & Co.
Officials say the move for the family-owned firm – which trades as Dee Bee Wholesale – “brings together two entrepreneurial businesses with deep roots in independent wholesale and retail”.
They add 1961-founded Dee Bee Wholesale, which has depots in Hull and Grimsby, will strengthen London-headquartered Bestway Wholesale’s “regional footprint, delivered wholesale capability and support for independent retailers, convenience customers and on-trade operators across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire”.
Dawood Pervez, Bestway Wholesale managing director, said: “Dee Bee has more than 65 years of customer service heritage, a loyal customer base and detailed regional knowledge.
“This deal reflects our continued confidence in the future of independent wholesale and retail, and reinforces our ambition and confidence in the wholesale sector.”
Nick Ramsden, Dee Bee Wholesale managing director, added: “This marks an important milestone and the next stage in the business’ journey.
“I’m confident that becoming part of the Bestway Wholesale network will create new opportunities for the business and bring long-term benefits for customers, colleagues and suppliers.”
Bestway Wholesale, which operates from a Park Royal head office, runs a depot network that stretches from Aberdeen to Exeter.
