Joint venture begins work on 120-home scheme
A construction joint venture has started work on a 120 affordable home scheme.
Great Places Housing Group and Keepmoat have broken ground on a Rotherham development.
Officials say the Midland Road project will transform ex-bus depot land into an estate delivering “much‑needed homes for social rent and supporting the regeneration of the area”.
The endeavour is set to include four one-bed, 35 two-bed, 65 three-bed and 16 four-bed social rent homes.
The first properties are expected to be completed in spring next year.
Nick Gornall, director of growth at Great Places Housing Group, which is investing £30 million into the scheme, said: “This development will turn a long-vacant brownfield site into a high-quality new neighbourhood.
“It also reflects our continued commitment to investing in South Yorkshire and creating more affordable homes where they are needed most.”
Warren Thompson, Keepmoat Yorkshire West regional managing director, added: “We’re honoured to be partnering with Great Places to create much-needed affordable housing options in Rotherham.
“This partnership is a fantastic example of what can be achieved through collaboration.”
