Midwives launch new pregnancy clinic

A North Tyneside healthcare venture is offering expectant families a more personalised pregnancy experience with the launch of a new specialist scanning clinic.

Sereniti Scan has been founded in Benton by experienced midwives and sonographers Jennifer Moore and Victoria Hamoodi, who bring more than 40 years of combined experience in maternity care, ultrasound and fetal medicine.

Based at the No 33 business hub on North Tyne Industrial Estate, the clinic provides a range of private pregnancy services, including early reassurance scans, gender scans, 4D imaging and screening tests.

The business was established after Jennifer and Victoria observed how growing pressures on NHS maternity services have affected the amount of time and support available to many families during pregnancy.

Both founders have spent decades working across NHS maternity services and ultrasound departments, supporting thousands of families through pregnancy and childbirth.

Victoria said: “We both still absolutely love our NHS roles and are very proud of the work we do.

“But the reality is there are pressures on the system that are outside of our control.

“Appointments are often much more rushed now, and families don’t always get the time and reassurance they would like.

“We wanted to create somewhere calm, welcoming and personal, where families can enjoy the experience and ask questions without feeling rushed.”

The clinic is equipped with a new 4D ultrasound system designed to provide detailed images and keepsakes for parents, alongside screening and blood testing services, including first trimester screening and gender blood tests.

Jennifer and Victoria believe changing attitudes towards pregnancy, including the popularity of gender reveals and family celebrations, have increased demand for additional scanning services outside routine appointments.

Designed with accessibility in mind, the Benton clinic offers convenient transport links and parking for visitors travelling from across Newcastle, North Tyneside and the wider region.

The founders say the new venture allows them to focus on delivering the reassurance, time and personal connection they believe many families are seeking during pregnancy.

Victoria added: “One of the lovely things about private scanning is that families can share the experience together.

“Within the NHS there are often restrictions on numbers attending appointments, but here grandparents, children and partners can all be involved in that special moment.”
