Mer Fleet Services seals management buy-out
A County Durham electric vehicle charging specialist has entered a new phase of growth following a management buy-out.
Consett-based Mer Fleet Services, a provider of EV charging solutions for car and commercial vehicle fleets, has been acquired by its existing leadership team as part of a management buy-out from parent company Mer AS, which is headquartered in Oslo, Norway.
The business supplies charging infrastructure to organisations across the UK, with customers including IKEA, Durham County Council and the Metrocentre.
The transaction sees Mer AS divest its UK fleet charging business as it focuses on its public charging operations across the Nordics, Germany and Austria.
Mer Fleet Services will continue operating under new ownership, led by chief executive Paul Winchester, chief commercial officer Natasha Fry, chief financial officer Jane Crosby and chief operating officer Louise Gillingham.
Paul said customers and partners will experience no disruption to services, contracts or day-to-day operations as the transition takes place.
He added that the company plans to continue investing in its technology, services and growth strategy, while undertaking a phased programme of changes to branding, digital channels and customer-facing materials.
He said: “This is an important milestone for the business.
“With strong foundations in place, we are well positioned to continue delivering for customers and partners as we build on that momentum,
Kristoffer Thoner, chief executive of Mer AS, added: “We are proud of the progress Mer Fleet Services Ltd has made in recent years.
“We believe this transaction positions the business well for its next phase and we wish all the best for the future.”
