Hodgson Sayers lays foundations for growth
A County Durham-based roofing and construction specialist is increasing investment in technology, premises and recruitment following growth across its key operating divisions.
Hodgson Sayers, which was established in 1979, says strong contract wins in roofing and rising demand in civils and construction have helped drive year-on-year growth.
The company, which also has a base in Nottingham, works across roofing, construction and civils, metal fabrication and security products, serving sectors including education, heritage, utilities, housing and healthcare.
Its civils and construction division has seen the strongest recent growth and now accounts for 50 per cent of company turnover, which currently stands at £15.4 million.
Hodgson Sayers is investing £100,000 in IT infrastructure to bring finance, procurement, project management and operations into a single integrated platform, supporting improved reporting, planning and decision-making.
The business is also working with Teesside University through a knowledge transfer partnership on an artificial intelligence project.
Designed for product lines including security doors, frames and roofing systems, the initiative will support the development of a real-time Digital Twin platform that automates updates across design, manufacturing and construction.
Further investment plans include taking on larger premises in Nottingham and recruiting additional staff across the North East and Midlands.
Bosses say the investment programme will support continued growth and help the business meet rising demand across its core markets over the next three years.
John Sayers, managing director, said: “The directors are committed to further investment in the business based partly on our financial performance in the last two years and our projections for the next three years, where we anticipate growth of 15 per cent year-on-year.
“We can make realistic assessments on the basis that much of our work is based on strong relationships with existing clients and our participation on long-term, high-quality frameworks.
“We have always had a very strong and capable construction and civils capability, which is focussed on the utilities sector, and it is now matching that of our roofing expertise in terms of turnover, which is very pleasing.
“It has been steadily growing because of the team’s ability to forge exceptional relationships with clients based on the delivery of a top-quality service.”
