Homecare provider launches community fund

A Newcastle homecare provider has launched a monthly fund to support grassroots organisations and community groups across the region.

Walfinch Care Newcastle will award a £250 grant every month to a different local organisation, helping cover costs such as venue hire, refreshments, activities, equipment and day-to-day expenses.

The initiative has been created to support the communities the company serves across Newcastle, North Tyneside and the wider area.

Idris Nasar, director at Walfinch Care Newcastle, said: “At Walfinch, we’re proud to be part of the communities we serve and wanted to find another way to make a positive difference beyond the care we provide every day.

“Through our work across Newcastle and North Tyneside, we’ve seen first-hand the incredible role that local community groups play in supporting people, tackling loneliness and bringing communities together.

“We’ve also seen the challenges many organisations face when it comes to securing funding.

“The Community Fund is designed to provide practical support to those groups.

“Whether it’s funding a community project, supporting an event, purchasing equipment or helping deliver vital services, we want the fund to make a positive difference to local people and the organisations that support them.

“We’d encourage any local group that could benefit from the funding to get in touch.

“We’re excited to support the fantastic work already happening across our communities and look forward to helping as many organisations as possible over the coming months.”

Applications are now open, with groups invited to explain how the funding would help their work and benefit local people.

A different organisation will receive support each month, with applications accepted throughout the year.

Community groups can apply by emailing Newcastle-East@Walfinch.com with information about their organisation, how the funding would be used and the difference it would make to their community.
