HTG to showcase AI security technology
A South Tyneside technology firm is hosting an exclusive open day to showcase how AI-powered security systems can support smarter business operations.
Howell Technology Group (HTG), based in Hebburn, is holding the invitation-only event in partnership with Verkada on Wednesday, June 25.
The open day will give guests the chance to see Verkada's AI-powered workplace security technology operating in a live business environment.
Installed across HTG’s offices, the systems include intelligent cameras, intercoms and access control technology designed to move physical security beyond traditional monitoring.
Visitors will see live demonstrations of features including Verkada’s Unified Timeline, which can reconstruct the movement of people and vehicles across a site, as well as AI-driven search, intelligent alerts and access control.
The platform also provides operational insights, including occupancy trends, footfall, car park use, air quality monitoring and vape detection.
Kevin Howell, chief executive at Howell Technology Group, said: “This is an exciting opportunity for businesses to see leading AI-powered security technology working in a real environment, not a showroom or staged demo.
“We are proud to be working with Verkada to bring this technology to our customers and show how modern security platforms are becoming an important part of wider operational resilience and business performance.
“One of the biggest benefits is the time and operational efficiency these systems can deliver.
“Instead of teams manually trawling through hours of footage following an incident, AI-powered search and alerts can pinpoint key moments in seconds and identify risks before they escalate.
“That means faster decision making, less disruption to operations and valuable time and money savings for businesses.”
Mark Coates, vice president of EMEA at Verkada, added: "The UK and wider EMEA market is at a real inflection point when it comes to physical security.
“Organisations are moving away from fragmented, on-premise systems and looking for a unified, intelligent platform that gives them real operational control.
“Events like this – where technology lives in a working environment – are exactly how we want to show what’s possible.
“We’re excited to partner with HTG to help businesses protect people and places more effectively, while running smarter operations.”
Stuart Miller, director of strategic solutions and innovation at HTG (Verkada partnership lead), added: “Our strategic partnership with Verkada represents a significant step forward and reinforces HTG’s ongoing commitment to investing in best-of-breed technology.
“Integrated analytics are uncovering valuable and actionable insights such as occupancy trends, footfall, direction of travel, car park utilisation, vape detection, air quality monitoring, and much more.
“We are at a pivotal moment in the adoption of AI, where it is delivering tangible, real-world outcomes, and HTG is at the forefront of transforming physical security by bringing together cyber and physical environments.
“Verkada’s cloud first platform provides a single, unified view with proactive management, alongside powerful AI-driven alerts and search capabilities.
“This is already enabling our customers to reduce investigation and footage review time by up to 87 per cent.
“This goes beyond evolution; it is a fundamental shift in how organisations approach and benefit from proactive, innovative physical security, powered by AI.”
Attendance is limited to allow guests direct access to the HTG and Verkada teams.
