Calbee UK strengthens innovation team

Snack manufacturer Calbee UK, headquartered in Bradford, has appointed Abigail Walker as research and development manager as the business continues to pursue its growth ambitions across the UK and Europe.

Abigail joins from Asda, where she worked as a product developer, bringing experience in new product development and category innovation.

In her new role, she will be responsible for developing an insight-led pipeline of new products across the crisps and snacks category, helping to support the company’s long-term growth strategy.

She will also lead cross-functional project teams and play a key role in fostering a culture of innovation, creativity and continuous improvement across the business.

Abigail said: “I’m really excited to be part of a business with such a strong heritage and a bold appetite for innovation.

“Seabrook has a unique place in the UK snacks market, and with the recent launch of the Bags of Northern Soul creative campaign, I’m looking forward to being part of that.

“Joining Calbee is a great opportunity.

“As Japan’s no.1 snack maker, it has market-leading innovation in crisps and snacks.

“I’m looking forward to working closely with the wider team and to gaining insight on R&D globally.”

Abigail’s appointment strengthens Calbee UK’s research and development capability as it continues to invest in product innovation and expand its presence within the competitive snacks market.

Claire Hooper, group marketing director at Calbee UK, added: “We would like to take this opportunity to welcome Abi to the team.

“She has already started to work on some exciting projects, and we look forward to delivering innovation that will excite shoppers and drive incremental growth in the category.”
