Lovell finalises plans for 250-plus-home scheme
A housebuilder is set to submit 250-plus-home plans.
Lovell is working on a blueprint for Burtree Garden Village, on the outskirts of Darlington.
The proposal covers 261 properties, with 146 private sale houses complemented by 115 affordable homes for social property provider Believe Housing.
Lovell – which has been appointed by Washington and Wynyard-based Hellens Group and Homes England to deliver the properties – says work could begin in January if Darlin gton Borough Council chiefs back its blueprint later this month.
According to development bosses, Burtree Garden Village will deliver more than 2000 homes over the next 20 years, alongside 200,000sq metres of employment space, shops and community facilities.
Phil Jones, Lovell North East director of land and partnerships, said: “Burtree Garden Village will be a flagship development in the North East.
“We are proud to be working with Homes England and Hellens Group to build homes on the first phase of the project.
“The garden village concept offers the new community a chance to put down roots and flourish.”
