Brough health club plans unveiled

An East Yorkshire health and wellness business is planning a multi-million-pound development that could create 50 jobs and bring a new leisure destination to Brough.

The Kingston Club has unveiled proposals for a premium health club, with plans submitted to East Riding Council for approval.

The development would occupy a 2.5-acre site at Bluebird Way retail park and is expected to create around 50 jobs, alongside additional employment during the construction phase.

Designed to go beyond the traditional gym model, the proposed facility would feature padel courts, hybrid fitness spaces, wellness studios and a spa offering recovery therapies, including hot and cold treatments.

Plans also include co-working areas, a café and conference facilities, creating a mixed-use destination focused on health, wellbeing and community.

Richard Wilson, co-founder of The Kingston Club, said: "We are excited and proud to be able to deliver our plans to redefine health clubs in the UK, right here in East Yorkshire.

“Our vision is that The Kingston Club will provide a welcoming community club that promotes healthier lifestyles, through a mix of our state-of-the-art facilities. This will be completely unique to the area, and will be somewhere to play, give people a reason to stay and a place people feel they belong; it’s about community.”

Backing the development is the Kingston group of companies, a long-established independent business that has operated in Hull and the East Riding for over a century.

Subject to planning approval, construction is expected to begin later this year, with the club targeting an opening in summer 2027.

Richard added: “As we get further into the process, we will share more details on the local supply chain and the jobs we will be creating, but these will be varied, from fitness instructors and personal trainers, to customer service roles and operational jobs.

“We are passionate about championing local businesses and our partners will add to the community ethos we want to build as part of this project.”

Further details regarding facilities, recruitment opportunities and opening events will be announced in the coming months via www.thekingstonclub.co.uk.
