Electrical waste disposal firm powers on with base

An electrical waste disposal and recycling firm has unveiled expansion plans.

GAP Group North East is set to open a Yorkshire base.

The company says the eight-job venture, in Hessay, near York, will bolster its presence across the Broad Acres county, as well as the Midlands and the South of England and Wales.

Adding to existing sites in Gateshead and Perthshire, the firm says the move will meet rising demand for electrical waste and electronic equipment disposal from clients including businesses and local authorities.

Nigel Tomlinson, GAP Group North East commercial director, said: “As demand grows, our mission is to make sure every customer – wherever they are in the UK – receives the same level of service, speed and compliance support.

“The Yorkshire site is about us providing what our customers need.”

The business last year opened a £15 million, 50-plus job fridge processing base near Perth, which it said would help boost annual company-wide recycling capacity of the white goods staple to more than 1.3 million.
