New M&S Foodhall hits construction milestone

A South Yorkshire retail destination is moving closer to welcoming a new store as work progresses on a multi-million-pound development.

Construction of the new Marks & Spencer Foodhall at Fox Valley in north Sheffield has reached a key milestone, with the building’s steel frame now in place ahead of an expected autumn opening.

The store will complete the line-up of retailers at the eastern end of the shopping centre, joining businesses including Home Bargains, Iceland, Aldi and Costa Coffee.

Once open, the 16,000sq ft Foodhall will offer the full M&S food range, including fresh produce, bakery items, flower and wine departments, and a Click & Collect service for online fashion, home and beauty orders.

The development is expected to create around 60 jobs, adding to the retailer's existing Yorkshire workforce.

Built on land adjacent to Costa Coffee, the project is one of several recent developments at Fox Valley, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year.

The shopping centre has also welcomed Shackleton’s new-format Gallery store and The Wellness Space medi spa over the past 12 months as it continues to expand its retail and leisure offer.

James Shepherd, managing director of Dransfield Properties, said: “Seeing the steelwork going up is a real milestone for the team and for the community.

“This is a project our shoppers have been excited about since the planning stage, and it’s wonderful to see the store taking shape.

“The new M&S Foodhall will be a major addition to Fox Valley as we continue to invest in the centre.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming the team from M&S and opening the doors this autumn.”
