Plans approved for 120-home Letchworth scheme
A Hertfordshire housing development is set to bring new homes, green spaces and affordable housing to the area following the approval of detailed plans.
David Wilson Homes has secured reserved matters approval from North Hertfordshire Council for Heritage Gardens, a 120-home scheme in Letchworth.
Located on a 13-acre site at Talbot Way, the development has been designed in partnership with Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation and draws inspiration from the area's Garden City heritage.
The scheme will feature a mix of apartments and two to five-bedroom homes, alongside 48 affordable properties including social rent, affordable rent and shared ownership homes.
Plans include public green spaces, retained woodland, tree-lined streets, pocket parks and play areas, with homes arranged across four character areas reflecting local architectural styles.
As part of the development, David Wilson Homes will contribute more than £1 million towards local infrastructure, including schools, libraries, youth services and walking and cycling improvements.
Lauren Potter, development director at Barratt David Wilson North Thames, said: “Heritage Gardens on the edge of Letchworth will take the very best principles that founded this beautiful Garden City and update them for a new generation.
“Homes here will be surrounded by green spaces, sustainably built and designed to facilitate healthy and active lifestyles.”
First residents are expected to move in during spring 2027.
