Event encourages North East talent to Get Known
A Newcastle business summit created to raise the profile of overlooked regional talent is set to return in 2027 following a sold-out debut.
The first Get Known Summit took place at the Crowne Plaza Newcastle on June 4, bringing together founders, business leaders and ambitious professionals for a day focused on visibility, confidence and profile-building.
Created by Newcastle PR agency Moja as part of The Get Known Club, the event was designed to address what organisers describe as a visibility gap across the North East, where talented people and businesses are not always recognised for their work.
The summit featured six speakers covering brand strategy, networking, storytelling, mindset, personal style and media, with sessions aimed at helping delegates understand how to become better known in their fields.
Speakers included Lisa Johnson, Jeni Smith, Sophie Jane Lee, Helenlee Wilkinson, Frankie James and David Gleghorn.
Sophie Milliken MBE, chief executive of Moja and founder of the Get Known Club, said: “There is no shortage of talent in business, but there is a shortage of visibility, and that is exactly what we set out to change.
“To see a sold-out room of ambitious people, all there to learn how to show up and be recognised, told us just how much this event was needed.
“We always believed there was an appetite for an event like this in the North East, and the response has been beyond anything we hoped for, so we are already planning 2027.”
The event was supported by headline partner Sage, alongside sponsors Ward Hadaway, Inspired HR, Weir Insurance Brokers and Ideas Fest.
Melissa Beckett, marketing lead at Sage, added: “At Sage, we’re passionate about helping small businesses not just succeed, but stand out.
“Time and again, we see that incredible talent and solutions to problems can go unnoticed without the confidence, network, platform and visibility to match it.
“The Get Known Summit brings that to life in a really powerful way – giving founders and professionals practical tools to build their profile, tell their story and unlock new opportunities for growth.
“There’s so much ambition and potential across the North East, and we’re proud to support events like this that champion and surface those amazing businesses and entrepreneurs.’’
Following the success of the debut event, Super Early Bird tickets have gone on sale for the next Get Known Summit, which will take place on Thursday, April 22, 2027.
