Consultancy eyes growth after office agreement
A global built environment consultancy is putting down new roots with a city office switch.
Arup is set to move to Newcastle’s 1 Citygate.
Bosses say the 15-year lease represents “one of the city’s most significant commercial lettings of the year”.
They add the firm will occupy 20,185sq ft across the building’s fourth and fifth floors after landlord Britannia Invest A/S – overseen by asset manager Catella APAM – carried out upgrades including floor de-gassing and new mechanical and electrical infrastructure.
Andy Johnson, director at Arup, which has operated from Newcastle’s Central Square North, said: “We are delighted to be relocating to 1 Citygate.
“This move reinforces our long-standing commitment to the region and provides a strong platform for continued business growth, building on our successful 60-year presence.”
William Grenfell, Catella APAM associate director, said: “We have continually invested in 1 Citygate, and Arup’s 15-year commitment is testament to that.”
Parker Knights acted on behalf of the site’s landlord.
Michael Downey, Parker Knights’ managing director, said: “The comprehensive refurbishment has created a workspace that attracts occupiers of the highest calibre; 1 Citygate continues to go from strength to strength.”
Arup was advised by Lambert Smith Hampton’s Aidan Baker and BNP Paribas Real Estate’s Elaine Murphy.
