Just Eat owner delivers tech move as earnings rise
The owner of Just Eat Takeaway.com has reported a jump in profits as it pushes ahead with transformation plans.
Prosus saw adjusted earnings grow 84 per cent to £1 billion over the past year.
Bosses say the rise will be complemented by an “operational turnaround” at Just Eat Takeaway, which will focus on a cultural shift, greater technology use and a sharper market focus.
They add the company is targeting significant growth through artificial intelligence, revealing it has developed its version of OpenClaw, which has faced data privacy concerns in Europe.
Prosus snapped up Just Eat Takeaway for £3.6 billion late last year.
Fabricio Bloisi, chief executive of Prosus, a global technology investor majority-owned by South Africa’s Naspers, said: “We are building something fundamentally different; an artificial intelligence-powered lifestyle ecosystem that gets smarter and stronger with every interaction.
“This was a vision 18 months ago – today, the integrated ecosystem is a reality and is scaling fast.”
Prosus also owns Brazilian food ordering and delivery platform iFood and Dutch online marketplace business OLX.
