New platform streamlines safety compliance
Two Teesside family businesses have joined forces to develop a digital compliance platform designed to simplify health and safety management for organisations across the UK.
Middlesbrough-based A&N Safety Consultants has partnered with software specialist Calm Inductions to create SafeDocs, a cloud-based system that helps businesses reduce paperwork while maintaining high standards of health and safety compliance.
Combining A&N’s consultancy expertise with Calm Inductions’ digital capabilities, bosses say the platform enables organisations to securely manage risk assessments, policies, training records, licences and certifications in one place.
SafeDocs also automates reminders for document reviews and renewals, helping businesses avoid missed deadlines, while additional features include incident reporting, asset management and workforce compliance monitoring accessible via smartphones and tablets.
Joanne Allick, business development manager at Calm Inductions, said: “Our goal was to create software that removes unnecessary administration and gives businesses a straightforward way to manage compliance.
“By combining our software development expertise with A&N’s health and safety knowledge, we've created a solution that genuinely helps organisations stay organised, reduce risk and focus on running their business.”
Abigail Allick, director of A&N Safety Consultants, which won the Micro-SME award at the Constructing Excellence North East Awards 2026, added: “Many businesses want to do the right thing when it comes to health and safety, but managing documentation, renewals and compliance requirements can be time-consuming and overwhelming.
“By working alongside Calm Inductions, we’ve been able to create a solution that combines professional health and safety support with technology that makes compliance much easier to manage.
“Businesses can access everything they need in one place and have confidence that nothing is being overlooked.”
The software has already been adopted by Middlesbrough engineering services firm Libellum, which specialises in non-destructive testing, safety inspections and asset integrity management.
Mark Chalmondeley, chief executive of Libellum, added: “Working with SafeDocs has transformed the way we manage and share information across our business.
“The platform ensures our team always has access to the latest documents, procedures, and updates, wherever they are.
“It has improved communication, strengthened document control, and given us greater confidence in our compliance and operational processes.”
